Re: New Boards of Directors

There are African representatives on the International Policy Council. These are the roles of that group:
1. To uphold the vision and values of Every Nation by formulating written policies, focusing on ends and delegating means, and keeping the movement Christ-centered, Bible-based and ethical; and
2. To ensure that Every Nation is accomplishing its mission by monitoring the achievement of its ends, monitoring adherence to leadership limitations, and promoting and maintaining a culture of healthy relationships.
So it seems the two Boards of Directors, executive directors and the regional directors will be in charge of administration.
It looks to me like the IMT's and IPC's roles will be more spiritual, theological, and relational. Rice Broocks is the president over these groups, but since their roles "focus on ends and delegate means" one wonders what exactly the relationship will be between administrative and spiritual/relational/theological functions, and if in the area of "delegating means" there might be some overlap. However, it is clear that RB's presidency is not over an administrative function; Steve Murrell's chairmanship of ENC's board would be more administrative.
Also of concern is that there has previously been an "ends justify the means" mentality in Every Nation - in order to meet the overarching goal of "every nation in our generation" as articulated by Rice Broocks in the book of the same name, and by Jim Laffoon in his 2004 talk transcribed elsewhere on this forum and on FACTNet. One hopes that this is addressed.
However, if these boards, committees and such really do fulfill the two main roles listed above, that will go a long way toward bringing ENC more toward the evangelical mainstream, imho.
