With recent developments is does seem that EN is changing its approach for the better. Hopefully the new regional boards will afford churches the opportunity to develop their own elderships without too much outside interference and only to get outside support where they feel it ot the necessity properly shown to them.
Previously churches faced the imposition of external leaders from EN who from time to time caused further division and other problems. Some have pointed to this in the case of Cape Town and more recently St Louis. Both churches that were also going through serious transitions when they joined EN. The regional boards will perhaps encourage a deeper relational aspect to all of this without being bureaucratic bishoprics that impose their rules and agendas willy-nilly.
Churches in Africa, including those in EN, seem to have benefited from a less arrogant and paternalistic approach.
