In all the discussion in criticising EveryNation, I feel most people are ignoring the issue that EveryNation is fulfilling a vital niche role in the body of Christ. Maybe it is doing that job not very well, but it is doing it and I don't see anyone else who is. As long as there are no alternatives, there is not too much motivation for the organisation to change. What is it doing that is unique?
The movement is building churches positioned to reach university campuses with a Charismatic worship style and equipping them with a theological basis help them to be effective leaders in their chosen profession. No one else I know of is doing that.
There are some other ministries like Summit Ministries that teach worldviews to University Students, but they don't build churches or teach about the gifts of the spirit etc. There are other campus ministries like campus crusade, but they don't build churches or teach worldviews. So Maranatha-EveryNation-His People fills an important niche. It is for that reason that I don't think they are going to go away - no matter how much they are attacked. Therefore I argue the need for reform rather than just attacking. They may collapse, but another very similar organisation will arise to fill the same niche. What is that organisation going to look like? Better or worse? Will it overcome the repetitive problems or will it do them again.
Does anyone know of any other ministries that offer a similar vision and activities?
Please use this thread to also tell about other alternative campus ministries and denominations which those formerly in EveryNation later join and are happy with.
