Dear Every Nation staff,
I wanted to follow up on a few things that were mentioned in the communiqué that Lynn Nawata sent out on February 14, namely the move of our School of Campus Ministry to Nashville and the upcoming relocation of our Los Angeles Every Nation Ministries office to Nashville.
As you know, Nashville hosts our Every Nation Churches office, the North American offices of Every Nation Leadership Institute, Every Nation World Missions, the School of Youth Ministry and the School of Church Planting & Pastoral Ministry. The decision to move the School of Campus Ministry (SCM) there reflected the desire of our ministry's leaders to streamline our schools and benefit from economies of scale. The students of the schools will be able to interact and build relationships with one another. We will also save a significant amount of resources by having all of the schools in one place. If you attended one of the schools, you probably know that Nashville is much less expensive than Los Angeles!
Once the SCM moved to Nashville, the Every Nation Ministries office was the only corporate office in the U.S. that was not located in Nashville. A relocation committee comprised of senior managers and staff from the LA office evaluated the pros and cons of the Every Nation Ministries office remaining in Los Angeles, and determined that it was best for all of our Every Nation operations to be located in Nashville. While having all of our ministries' U.S. operations in one place does have some drawbacks, the long-term benefits of moving to Nashville outweighed the benefits of staying in L.A.
The decision to move the Every Nation Ministries office was a long and difficult one. The staff in Los Angeles were consulted, as were specialists such as a non-profit relocation consultant. Other Christian organizations who have moved their central offices were contacted, and they gave us their input and experiences regarding relocating our Los Angeles office.
We are planning to relocate our Los Angeles Every Nation office to Nashville in the summer of 2006. The goal for the relocation is to have all of the Every Nation Ministries operations up and running in Nashville by the first part of July. The experts tell us we're being optimistic, but we're still hoping for a June move and a July operating date. Please pray with us as we plan out the many details of this move. Also - please keep in mind that your support staff in Los Angeles are facing new challenges. They're working behind the scenes for you so that together with our ministry partners we can bring the Gospel to the nations. You, our field staff, as well as those who don't know Christ, are truly the reason we do what we do. The administrative staff wants to care for you so that you can serve the lost.
All of us will really have to pull together and work as a family during this season! When there is a lot of change, communication is critical. Connections will be more important than ever for you to read; faithfully checking your e-mail will also be important, as some of this information will be in Connections and some of it will go out via e-mail.
Please feel free to let us know of any concerns or questions you have —communicating is never a one-way street!
Attention US MPD staff: this move will also affect your ministry partners. We are preparing a relocation schedule with details about what you should include in your newsletters. It will be much like the Every Nation name change, where we gave you scripted things to put in your newsletters each month. That way we can be sure we're all communicating the same things to our ministry partners. The Los Angeles office will be communicating about this relocation with your partners, but you will need to do so in your personal monthly newsletters as well. We will also be keeping you up to date on information regarding the office contact information, transit dates during the actual relocation, and other important details. Some of this information will be in Connections and some of it may occur via e-mail as well.
Hopefully this e-mail answered any questions you may have had about recent changes. We're working hard to keep you up to date and confident in our ministry. Like Hebrews 10:35 says, "do not throw away your confidence." We're becoming more of a family than we ever were before. And the changes God has brought our way will enable Him to be glorified in the end.
God bless,
Bert Thomson
