How to tell a cultish leader from a Godly leader
My advice to young leaders: Keep away from any leader in EveryNation who as several of the following features: - behaves like he is super-imporant; - surrounds himself with slavish admirers and status symbols like fancy car, house, suits, 5 star hotel, first class air ticket etc; - keeps at a distance from ordinary mortal Christians; - treats people like dirt; - doesn't tolerate disagreement or questioning; - is always showing off; - doesn't want to cooperate with other ministries; - avoids taking an unpopular stand on moral issues in the organisation; - talks more about the greatness of the ministry and its leaders than the greatness of Jesus Christ; - no one is allowed to say 'no' to and keep their position in the group; - controls the lives of those close to him; - is competitive with other ministries.
Avoid such people like the plague. If you don't, you will become like them. Sorry to break your heart, but such leaders are phoneys. They are not serving God. These are signs of a sociological cult leader. You don't get any credit from God for bowing and scraping before such a leader. It is just idolatry to do so. Tell them to grow up. Its not a way for a Christian leader to behave.
These are the obvious outward signs. If you dig deeper you will probably find lots more serious dirt.
